Free Debt Relief Grants

Question: Question about FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE GRANTS?

Im a 21 year old individual who is swimming in debt. I heard about federal and state grants offered to individuals who need assistance. Although i have found the site grants.gov, I cannot seem to find information on grants offered for debt relief for individuals in my circumstances. I am looking to get out of all my debt that i cannot seem to repay. because i just want to go back to college. Any help on this would be great. Are there any free legitimate sites out there that can help you find debt relief grants ?
moon bunny, id like to ask you a question about the government loan.. is that something that can be used for education tuition and partially used for decreasing credit card debt? How should i go about this? Thanks

Answer: Financial assistance grants for students is tougher than for anyone else. If you are an individual alone, it's a little bit easier. For example, have you ever heard of the Pell Grant? It is a financial assistance grant for students that helps them when they can't help themselves or don't have parental support. Also, there are many service and work programs.

But honestly, if none of those appeal to you, the best thing you can do is get a loan. I know loans aren't appealing, and I certainly didn't want one, but I applied for student loans. The Federal government is very willing to work with you for the payment of those loans, and unlike some financial institutions, they don't track what you do with your money. So technically you could blow it, but if you're smart and serious about attending school, then you could use half the money to pay tuition, and the other half to pay down debt.

But I feel I must warn you, if you're looking to go the credit card route, don't! My husband got a credit card in college, and put his tuition on it, and anything else he felt like. To this day, we are still struggling with his credit card debts from college, while my student loan debt is completely managed and taken care of.

Just something to think about.

It is incorrect to say that debt relief options did not exist before the recession hit the economy. The current recession is not the first recession to hit America or the world. Cyclical recession and booms have been a part of our economic planning. People have been suffering from excessive debt ever since the beginning of financial institutions. Hence, the idea of debt relief information is not a new phenomenon. However, there is no doubt that things are different in this recession.

This recession is the first one where lenders are taking a positive approach and are helping borrowers settle debts. Lenders are ready to waive up to seventy percentage of their original amount owed as long as they are assured of repayment of the balance. The Great Depression lasted longer than it should have because banks and financial institutions were not quick in providing relief. By the time they got together, it was too late and millions and millions of individuals had opted for bankruptcy.

The financial institutions acted different this time not out of any charitable consideration. Rather, it was the stimulus money offered by the government that made a huge difference to the popularity of debt relief. Financial institutions escaped bankruptcy only because they received assistance in the form of stimulus money. However, institutions are aware that this money has not come free without any obligations attached. Further, aggressively recovering debt would have led to more bankruptcies which might have led to the stimulus money being directed elsewhere.

Hence, lenders started offering genuinely lenient debt relief options. The fact that you need to repay only thirty percent of the amount and that you can repay the same over a period of one to two years is a clear indication of the popularity of debt relief.

You can find more information about debt relief and its various facets and options on the World Wide Web. Make sure you have the right information in your hands before you proceed. The last thing you want is to take another wrong decision in relation to your finances and get into further trouble.
