Student loan cancellation can be granted under certain circumstances. Below are some of the ways to obtain student loan cancellation.
Total and permanent disability
Student loans are discharged if you become disabled totally and permanently. This total and permanent disability needs to be certified by a doctor. If you are unable to earn a living or work, your student loans are discharged or cancelled.
School is closed
What good is a student loan is the school shuts down. If you receive a student loan for a course that has closed before your finish your studies, then you may be able to get a student loan cancellation.
Lack of ability to benefit
When student loans are granted based on your ability to complete the course. If the school failed to properly tested your ability and you failed the test, then you are eligible for student loan cancellation.
Responsible for child and family service
If you are solely providing or supervising the provision of services to high risk children from low income families, then you may be eligible for student loan cancellation.
If you become an in-demand teacher
If you become a full time teacher at a low income school, the state's education agency can determine that you are eligible for student loan cancellation.
